Halloween Vintage Style

I've always loved vintage holiday greeting cards & postcards, etc.  The illustrations are so adorable!
I decided to do a painting of this "cute little witch girl & her cat" in my folky style.  I'd like to give credit to the artist of the illustration but can't read the signature.
Anyway, this little Halloween painting is available on EBAY right now - right HERE!
Have a SCARY day!!!

Vintage Suitcase Cat Bed

I've been seeing some REALLY CUTE cat beds online made from old, vintage suitcases & decided I HAD to make one myself!  Got this wonderful case at an antique store here in town (actually last year) & finally got to work on it.  Added some legs, cute decorations & made a fleece poly-filled cushion to place inside & VOILA!  Turned out just how I wanted!
Do the cats use it?  no
Is it a great decorative piece next to our kitchen fireplace?  YESSS!
I think the cats will eventually figure out it's for them.  They can't seem too eager, you know.  That wouldn't be cat-like.  It took our dog about a year to use the antique bed I bought him but now he's on it ALL the time!
Happy cat-napping to you all!  purrrrr.......

P.S.  The stuffed kitty is from Urban Outfitters & the cute rug is from Target!

GONE GIRL

 Frida 1
Frida 2 (available on Ebay HERE!)

Yep, I've been GONE a looong time from the blogging scene!  I think I've forgotten how.
I won't bore you with dumb stories of how I've been so busy & taken lots of trips & all that crap.  I was pretty much just lazy & wanted to take a break from it.  Does anyone even blog anymore??  Seems like it's all Facebook & Twitter these days.  Really, who has the time to blog every day anyway??  Ok, enough of that. I'm starting to sound like a big grouch.

Just wanted to post my 2 latest Fridas.  The 2nd one was actually in an art show here in town.  I think my painting was the only "folk art" piece there.  Definitely the brightest in color (ha) so it stood out!

I have another painting to share, my latest foster kitties & a couple of cute cat things I recently made & bought so those will be in my next few posts - which I hope won't be 5 months from now!

HAPPY WEEKEND!
By the way,  I read that book "Gone Girl" ~ very good!

From 3 to 4

Meet little Amos!

My 3 fosters came from a litter of 5 ~ I took 3 & another foster mom took the other 2.
Sadly, 1 of hers didn't make it ~ a sweet little girl named Annie.  Bless her heart.  I offered to take her brother Amos so he could be with his siblings & not be alone.  He's just LOVING romping & playing with his brother Mowgli & sisters Moppet & Mitzi & is so happy!
I took all the kitties in a few days ago for a checkup & vaccs.  They are all doing GREAT & just need to gain a few more ounces before they can go back, have their spay/neuter surgeries & be all ready for adoption!  I know they'll be snatched up quick ~ they are too adorable!

Having foster babies sure keeps you busy!  I have a sketch for a new Frida Kahlo & Cat painting I want to start but haven't found the time yet.  Really wanted to have it ready to list for Cinco de Mayo on Saturday but that's doubtful.  Darn.  I'm taking my daughter to "Junior Day" at K-State tomorrow, then taking her to KU in Lawrence where she'll meet up with her fellow Journalism students for the State Competition on Saturday.  Busy, busy, busy!  Not much time to paint.  I can show you the sketch at least.
Can't wait to fill her full of bright, happy
COLORS!

Ok, back to my foster duties...  =^..^=

Finally some New Fosters!

Adorable Little Triplets!
Went & picked up these cuties at the KS Humane Society yesterday.  They are 6 week old fluffy brown tabbies sweet as can be!

I'm fostering them until they are big enough to be altered & also working on socializing them as they are still shy & skiddish around people (see the picture below). They're already warming up to me though.  They are VERY playful, eating well & using the litter box faithfully - yay!

No names yet ~ need to come up with 3 cute ones (2 girls & a boy)!  Any suggestions?
This bunch is SO adorable ~ kind of hard to tell them apart though!  I'm excited to have little furballs in the foster room again ~ it's been a while since we've heard the pitter patter of little paws around here.

Happy Purrsday to you all!

Pressies for Me!

I treated myself to a couple of new presents this past week! Got this cute vase yesterday at Two Attics Antiques ~ a shop I visit every 6 weeks when I drop our dog Koda off at the groomers nearby.  I'd been eyeing it for several months & finally decided if it was still there the next time I went, I was getting it!  Well, it was & I DID!  I love it ~ even though the cat looks kinda like a dog.
Also found this adorable wool hooked pillow that looks awesome on our bed!  And Zoolou seems to approve.  Of course she's thinking to herself how much prettier she is than that wool cat!
I love wool hooked pillows ~ especially Laura Megroz designs.  I have a few of her chair pads & pillows ~ so cute!

Working on some sketches for my next painting right now.  Not sure what it will be but I'm thinking SPRING FLOWERS!

April Showers & Polka-Dot Umbrellas

APRIL SHOWERS bring ...
CATS with polka-dot UMBRELLAS!

At least in this painting it does!
In honor of our recent (& much needed) rain storms we've had here in Kansas I painted this sweet kitty in her wellies, rain hat & cute polka-dot umbrella, which she cleverly holds with her tail.  I added pink polka-dots around the sides for more fun!  I love how it turned out.  It would look so SWEET in a little girl's room!
I love the rain.  Painting in my studio with a mug of coffee, Irish music cds playing, cats dozing nearby & the sound of rain on the roof is one of my favorite things!

"Ready for the Rain" is up for grabs on Ebay ~ click HERE for a peek!

Happy Wednesday & stay dry!
